Digital stamp cards

A stamp card that lives on the phone they already have.

Ten stamps, a free item — the offer customers already understand. The card is a wallet pass, the stamps update when you scan, and a full card banks the reward until they redeem it.

Why stamp cards stall

People love the offer. They lose the card.

Stamp cards work because the deal is obvious. They fail because the object is disposable. A digital stamp card keeps the same deal and removes the object that goes missing.

  1. 01

A half-full card in a drawer is revenue you already earned and will never see redeemed — or you honour a story you cannot check.

  2. 02

Ink stamps look cheap next to a contactless payment. The wallet pass sits next to the bank card they just used.

  3. 03

You have no idea how many cards are two stamps from a reward, so you cannot time a reminder.

Practical plays

Keep the offer. Fix the object.

If your customers already know '10 = free', do not invent a new mechanic. Move the same card into the wallet.

Play 01

Set a target that matches the visit

Coffee and nails: 8–10 stamps. Treatments: 6–8. You choose 2–50. A full card unlocks one reward; extra stamps roll to the next card.

We kept '10 gels, one free'. People already knew the deal.

Nail salon, after switching

No re-education. The pass just stops disappearing between refills.

Play 02

Show the grid on the pass

The stamp strip is drawn onto the Apple pass and the Google hero image. Customers see filled vs empty without opening anything else.

I opened Wallet in the queue. Two to go.

Cafe regular

The little dopamine of a filling card still exists — it is just accurate.

Play 03

Message people who are one stamp away

Turn on the reward-ready automation, or filter the list and send a lock-screen note. They already want the free item; they forgot they were close.

Twelve people were one class from a free one. Half booked that week.

Studio owner

The almost-full card becomes a reason to visit, not a forgotten rectangle.

How stamps work

Scan, fill, unlock, redeem.

  1. 01

Pick the target and the reward

Example: 10 stamps unlock 'Free coffee'. Write the reward in plain language — it prints on the pass.

  2. 02

    Customers add the pass

QR on the counter, email code, Add to Wallet. The empty grid is waiting on Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.

  3. 03

    Stamp at the till

Staff scan and add one or more stamps. The pass updates. When the card fills, a reward is banked and a new card starts.

  4. 04

    Redeem when they ask

Same scan, redeem instead of earn. The reward count drops. Optional manager PIN for large redeems.
